As I recall, it was not difficult to use. The Pinnacle drivers page does not list any 'DVD Recorder HD', but rather model numbers such as DVC 100. I tried it a couple of years ago with a my USB capture device (not a Dazzle), and it did work.

Did you try Magix Video Easy HD yet? It has a free trial and appears to work with a lot of different capture devices. Pinnacle have software like Pinnacle Studio but no trial so I can't download to see if it works before I buy it. Is that any free capture program that can find the hardware and save the file on the local disk? The instant DVD Recorder package is fine if youve got pre-edited video - or dont care and just want a backup of an old tape ASAP - but its simplicity also equates to limited functionality.
